In the quiet and compunctionate eve of Pentecost, when all creation seems to stand in reverent trembling before the descent of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Church lovingly calls us to remember those who before us have crossed the threshold of time and entered into the mystery of eternity. The Soul Saturday before Pentecost is a day of profound ecclesial remembrance, a day when the heart becomes a censer of love, and prayer a bridge between earth and heaven, between the visible and the invisible, between those who still journey and those who have already arrived before the face of the Living God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gathered around their Elder, His Grace Bishop Partenius of Antania, the brethren of our sacred monastic community, together with the faithful who had come, lifted up their prayers, in the spirit of grace-filled conciliarity and remembrance, for the repose of the souls of our forefathers, fathers, brothers, and sisters fallen asleep from all ages. In the sacred hymns and in the beauty of the liturgical order, one could feel that ineffable truth: that in Christ there is no separation, that love does not end at the grave, and that remembrance in God is stronger than the forgetfulness of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the commemoration of the departed is not merely a human duty of grateful remembrance, but also a confession of our faith in the Resurrection. We do not pray for the dead as for those hopelessly vanished, but as for the living in the Lord, for souls awaiting the perfect fulfilment of Christ\u2019s promise. And precisely for this reason, on this day permeated with silence, tears, and hope, our monastery once again became a place of encounter between generations, between the temporal and the eternal, between the earthly sigh and the heavenly consolation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
May the all-merciful Christ, Who is not the God of the dead, but of the living, grant rest in the dwellings of the righteous to all Orthodox Christians departed from all ages; and may He make us worthy, through repentance, love, and prayer, to remain faithful to the mystery of His Kingdom, in which all are one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
