Skete of St Cyrill and Methodius

A beautiful monastery, which like a rising sun spreads its graceful rays all around and endows with blessing all of the Miyak villages and homes, expelling the darkness of ignorance.

By a decision of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, on 30 August 2010 the location and the object at the border point above the village of Bitushe was given to the holy Bigorski monastery. The tireless creative mind of the Abbot, Archimandrite Parthenius, here immediately envisioned a new home for the Slavic Enlighteners, where the young souls in Christ could find solace, and quench the thirst for the word of the Lord. So the main use of the new Skete was to be educational and catechetic, that is, it would host the summer camps for religious education. The restoration of the boarding house in the Skete and the church was a donation of the pious family of Mr. Goran Dzikoski from Skopje, a faithful spiritual child of our Holy Monastery.

The official act of sanctifying the foundations of the church in the Skete of Sts Cyril and Methodius, which was impatiently anticipated, took place on 18/31 May 2014, and the religious ceremony was headed by the reverent arch-pastor, the metropolitan of Debar and Kichevo, kyr Timothy, together with the Abbot Archimandrite Parthenius and the brothers hieromonks and priests, in the presence of a multitude of faithful and guests from all the neighboring villages and from abroad. One could easily see their joyous spirit, especially visible in the inhabitants of Bitushe, for it is of great importance that their village was to be adorned with such a beautiful monastery, which like a rising sun spreads its graceful rays all around and endows with blessing all of the Miyak villages and homes, expelling the darkness of ignorance. On 16/29 May 2016, there was a charity event in Skopje providing financial aid for the future building of the Bigorski Skete, and all the participants in the event heartily accepted this initiative and joined their wishes and efforts to direct in future all of their strengths and resources towards the realization of this goal, until our magnificent Skete is restored according to its authentic image and hosts its first visitors.

Almost three years after and the consecration of the foundations and the beginning of its building, the base construction was finished and further actions were taken for adapting the former border building into a monastery hospice.
