Soul, mindful of your final hour, and dreading the fate of the fig tree, cultivate with diligence the talent you were given. Endure, be vigilant, and say: “May we not be shut out of the bridal chamber!”

Today our hearts and thoughts are overcome by the readings about the five wise and five unreasonable virgins. The first remained pure in soul and body, fulfilling their life – their lamps – with the oil of love and deeds of mercy. The others, too idle and lazy for any good deed, were left out of the wedding chamber.
