The light of Mount Tabor shone in the hearts of faithful

You were Transfigured on the Mount, O Christ God,  Revealing Your glory to Your disciples as far as they could bear it. Let Your everlasting Light shine upon us sinners! Through the prayers of the Theotokos, O Giver of Light, glory to You!

Once again the glory of the event of Christ’s Transfiguration sends its glittering rays, enlightening the hearts of all faithful. And once again Christ invites us to the rich and delicious festive feast and endows us with His uncreated light – the graceful strength – to climb the meditative Tabor and there, on those spiritual heights to meet Him and shine bright as a star. Today the Church invites us to reject all that is earthly and rise towards the heavenly atmosphere of spiritual joy, to attain that experience which the three Apostles were blessed with, when enlightened by the rays of the inexplicable glowing of Christ, in a state of exaltation they cried: Lord, it is good for us to be here (Mathew 17, 4). Today the Church reveals us a great and profound mystery – what was once unknown now becomes familiar and everything that was hidden is now revealed. Christ’s Divinity accepted and deified human nature, so today the human nature is called upon deification. Christ demonstrates His Divine glory, in order to celebrate the human being. We look at His wonderful beauty which renews our own beauty. Christ our spiritual Sun spreads His light and glitters in our souls, illuminating us with inexplicable joy.

It’s this joy that filled the souls of all the present faithful, who came in huge numbers in our holy sanctuaries, the Bigorski and Rajchica Monastery, to celebrate this deeply meaningful holiday together with their Elder, Archimandrite Parthenius and his brothers and sisters in Christ. In an ambience of immense joy they put all their spiritual-physical strength to perceive the mystery of the Transfiguration of Christ, thus receiving a small ray of Christ’s light which visibly reflected itself on their radiant faces.

Christ, our Lord, Who have transfigured on Mount Tabor and revealed to us our original beauty, give us Your spiritual light so that it could constantly shine in our lives. Amen
