Jerusalem is celebrating the love above every love

These days, Jerusalem was breathing with especially graceful joy, which poured into the hearts of the multitude of people from all over the world, who came in order to celebrate the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God at that authentic place.

The celebrations, headed by the Patriarch of Jerusalem, Theophilus, in co-service with the clergy from many Orthodox countries, began in the early hours on 25th August, when,  with solemn Litany from the Gethsemane Metochion, which is located in the courtyard of the Holy Sepulchre, the Holy Epitaphios of Theotokos was carried to the Gethsemane church of the Dormition of Theotokos, and the services continued up to today, were crowned with a special festive Liturgy in honor of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos.

“These several days, the hundreds holy lamps that illuminated the family tomb of the righteous Joachim and Anna, were overshadowed by the light of the Most Holy One, the most blessed of all women, whose pure womb carried and gave birth to the Savior of our souls.“- says our correspondent, Latina Stamenkova. “If they say that the maternal love is the only unconditional love here on Earth, then the love with which the Most Holy Theotokos covers the Christianity is above every love. When this love covers us, the body doesn’t feel tired, every sadness and sorrow leaves the heart and the mind banishes every bad thought. It took thousands of years for the birth of the One who was meet to accommodate the Unlimited One in her womb, and a good testimony that this is really so are the past 2000 years in which, she, after her ascension to heaven, tirelessly watches over the human kind and unceasingly supports us, through her numerous miracle-working icons that produce myrrh, and her constant prayerful intercession pleading with God for us. Sometimes even with a direct appearance before the ones in distress who seek for her help. “Tell me, shouldn’t such love of hers be called: love above every love?! – said Latina.
