Cycling to the Highest Peaks of the Mountains Dešat (Velivar 2373 MASL) and Krčin (Golem Krčin 2341 MASL)
The athletic feats in honor of the great Jubilee of 1000 years since the founding of the Bigorski Monastery do not stop. This time, the two experienced mountaineers and cyclists, Jovica Apostolovski and Aleksandar Cvetkovski, covered 44 km by bike in one day and achieved an excellent feat, for which we are very grateful and bless them.
In honor of the 1000-year existence of the Bigorski Monastery Saint John the Baptist, we accomplished a cycling ascent to the highest peaks of the mountains Dešat (Velivar 2373 MASL) and Krčin (Golem Krčin 2341 MASL). We thank the Bigorski and Rajčica Monasteries, which warmly welcomed us.
The start of our action was the Bigorski Monastery. Then we headed towards the village of Žirovnica, from where we took a dirt road to the ridge. We continued westward and reached the ridge, from where we moved south, traversing the entire length of the ridge that connects the mountains Dešat and Krčin, ascending their highest peaks Velivar and Golem Krčin.
From Golem Krčin, we headed east towards the village of Bituše, passing through the village of Rostuše in the direction of our final point – Bigorski Monastery Saint John the Baptist.
We covered a distance of 44 km and conquered an elevation difference of 2300 meters above sea level, in a time of 10 hours and 15 minutes.
The ascent was realized by Jovica Apostolovski and Aleksandar Cvetkovski, members of the Mountaineering Club H2O.
